Penang Retirement Resort Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Open Day

Penang Retirement Resort (PRR) is pleased to welcome the public to its Open Day on 21 June 2025, in celebration of its 2nd anniversary. The event offers a unique opportunity for guests to explore PRR’s purpose-built facilities, discover retirement living options, and engage with the vibrant community that calls PRR home.

Now in its second year of operations, PRR is proud to once again open its doors to the public, families, and stakeholders to experience what modern, purpose-built retirement living can offer. The event underscores PRR’s ongoing commitment to wellness, dignity, and active ageing in Malaysia.

The morning began with a warm welcome to all guests, including The Right Honourable Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, who officiated the event and delivered an engaging and heartfelt speech. In his remarks, he praised PRR as “one of Penang’s most forward-looking retirement communities” and commended its “continuum of care model” and deep sense of community. He also highlighted the importance of inclusive ageing policies under the Penang2030 vision, where seniors and youth thrive together in a supportive society.

In addition to guided tours and resident showcases, this year’s Open Day will feature free health screenings, workshops, and informative health talks conducted by specialists from Sunway Medical Centre Penang and Vista Eye Specialist, offering valuable insights into physical and eye health for seniors and caregivers alike. Highlights include “Common Diseases Among the Elderly” by Dr. Low Chung Min Sunway Medical Centre Penang and “From Blur to Clear: How AI is Transforming Cataract Treatment” by Dr. Hazel Tan Kaai Voon from Vista Eye Specialist.

“Our Open Day is a great opportunity for the public to experience what purposeful and comfortable senior living can look like,” said JJ Tan, Senior Marketing & Communications Executive of Penang Retirement Resort. “As we quietly mark our second year in operation, we remain committed to offering older adults a place where they can thrive with peace of mind and genuine connection.”

Visitors were welcomed to a range of engaging and informative activities throughout the day. Highlights included guided tours of PRR’s residences and communal spaces, opportunities to interact with residents and hear their first-hand experiences, as well as free health screenings and expert health talks conducted by reputable healthcare partners. The event also featured a brief programme with invited guests and community partners.
